5 Ways to Feel Confident in Front of the Camera
October 21, 2026 · 3 min read

Almost nobody feels natural in front of a camera, and that includes a lot of couples who end up with wedding photos they love. The good news is that a few simple habits make a big difference. These are my best tips for feeling confident in front of the camera, so your wedding photos and videos look relaxed every time.
You can also see all five tips as a carousel in my Instagram post about feeling confident on camera.
1. Keep moving
Do not freeze and hold a pose. Walk, sway, laugh, or move closer to your person. Natural movement helps you look more relaxed than holding a stiff pose, and it is exactly what makes wedding photos feel candid.
2. Create space
Do not press your arms flat against your body. Bend your elbows slightly or rest a hand on your hip. Creating a little space helps your arms look more defined.
3. Relax your face
You do not have to smile at the camera the whole time. Look at your partner, talk to each other, or laugh. Genuine expressions often make the best photos.
4. Fix your posture
Shoulders back, chin slightly forward and down. Stand tall without getting stiff. Gently bring your chin forward before lowering it a little to help define your jawline.
5. Get closer
When in doubt, close the gap. Lean into each other, touch foreheads, or wrap your arms around one another. Connection makes photos feel more natural and less posed.
You do not have to figure it out alone
The best part is that on your wedding day you will not have to remember any of this. Every collection includes full posing and direction. I will tell you where to stand, where to look, and what to do with your hands, the whole way through. An engagement session is also a relaxed way to practice before the big day.
